Joins BizSpark Program to Enable Early Stage Program Developers

 

ALTADENA, OCTOBER 27, 2010 - The Business Technology Center (BTC), one of the premier business technology incubators in the country, operated by the Community Development Commission of the County of Los Angeles, is now a network partner with Microsoft Corporation through their BizSpark Program.  By way of this program, Microsoft commits to aid entrepreneurs in transforming their visions into sustainable, dynamic businesses, as well as foster innovation and entrepreneurialism.

The BizSpark Program provides start-ups with software, support and visibility during the critical first three years, which is the time when such support is most valuable and least affordable.  To be eligible for the Microsoft BizSpark Program, start-ups must be actively engaged in development of a software-based product or service and in business less than three years.  Microsoft is providing their assistance with no upfront costs and minimal requirements.

Dr. Mark Lieberman, Manager and lead for the BTC project, states “The BizSpark Program will help early stage software companies, which is in direct alignment with the mission of the BTC-- to assist early stage technology companies grow and thrive.”  Dr. Lieberman added that “Microsoft is in alignment with our belief that the real economic stimulus is the entrepreneurial spirit.” This program assists BTC clients working on the Microsoft platform.

The BTC contributes significantly to economic development of the Los Angeles region. The BTC motto, “Success Starts Here,” refers to more than 100 companies assisted by the BTC in twelve years of existence. Client companies of the BTC raised over $160 million in angel and venture capital and added over 1,600 jobs to the local economy.
